日本では西城秀樹さんがカバーしたバージョンが有名かと思いますし、僕もこの曲は西城秀樹さんのオリジナル曲だと思っていたので、カバーだと知った時は驚いたことを憶えています！

ちなみにタイトルでもある「Y.M.C.A」ってなんだ？と思い調べてみると、1844年にイギリスで生まれたキリスト教青年会「Young Mens Christian Association」の略だそうで、現在では世界最大の非営利団体と言われているそうです。
YMCAは若者向けのユースホテルを運営しており、その宣伝ソングのような形でこの曲が作られたそうです。
